1950 Porsche 356 Pre-A Coupe

The 1950 Porsche 356 Pre-A Coupe was the hallmark of Porsche’s 50th anniversary. This car was the first German-produced Porsche 356 ‘split-window’ coupe and marked a new era in styling and design. Only 43 of these cars were hand-built from 1949 to 1950. The 356 was the first vehicle produced in the new Porsche factory in Stuttgart. By November 1950, only 80 cars were being crafted per month. The 1950 model uses the Volkswagen 1086cc engine with the Porsche cylinder head.

Looking to purchase a Classic Porsche?

More expensive than the Triumphs or MGs of the day, the 1950 Porsche 356 Pre-A Coupe offered more sophistication in styling and comfort. While the Cabriolet models were considered highly desirable, the Coupe models grew in popularity with those buyers who wanted a more practical sports car.
