When Ford unveiled a concept model at the Detroit Auto Show in 2002 that looked exactly like the legendary GT40, the reaction was so great that production became virtually inevitable. Two years later, the Ford GT was a reality: a tribute to the race cars that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times in a row between 1966 and 1969, thereby beating Enzo Ferrari on home turf. It did not become a copy of the past, but a completely newly designed supercar that translated the form and character of the original into the present day.
The heart of this GT is the supercharged 5.4-liter V8, an engine that delivers 550 hp and no less than 678 Nm of torque, and which makes itself heard with a deep, heavy rumble. That power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a Ricardo six-speed manual transmission, developed specifically for this car, exactly as befits a mid-engine supercar. The lightweight aluminum chassis keeps the weight low and ensures direct, sharp steering. The performance speaks for itself: 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 3.9 seconds and a top speed of around 330 km/h. This car has covered only 56,644 kilometers and has proven to be exceptionally stable in value as a collector's item. While many modern sports cars depreciated significantly after their introduction, the Ford GT actually showed a proven appreciation. This is the result of the limited production run, the timeless design, and an engine unlike any that is built today.
What makes this particular example extra special is the version finished in the iconic Heritage livery: the light blue with orange nose and the number 6 on the doors refer directly to the Gulf-sponsored GT40s that made history at Le Mans. The livery has been applied as a wrap, meaning the original paint underneath—black with silver-grey stripes—has been preserved, and the car can be restored to its original color if desired.
The effect of this Heritage version is stunning. The wide, low body with the familiar air intakes behind the doors, the flowing roofline, and the classic round taillights truly come into their own in this color scheme. The alloy wheels provide a beautiful contrast to the bright red brake calipers that shine through clearly.
